We love songs!
Having primary songs as part of our day
has been such a great thing!
We sing a song with Daddy before he heads to work
with a prayer and a scripture.
We work on new songs and sing them over and over to learn them.
I have found that kids love repetition and love learning and grasping the concepts - River is so excited when she remembers more words the next time through than she did before :)
The next day is also really neat when she can remember so much more the 2nd day :)
Below is one of River's drawings to learn her song, and then she taught it to Daddy in Family Night!
My Life is a Gift
My Life has a plan (map)
My life has a purpose (arrows)
In heaven it began (ladder leading up to a cloud)
My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth (home and Earth)
And seek for God's light to direct me from birth
(sun, baby Jesus in the manger)
I will follow God's plan for me (footsteps)
Holding fast to his word
(people holding on to the iron rod, book/scriptures)
and his love (heart)
I will work, (chopping wood with an axe)
and I will pray
I will always walk in his way (footsteps, path)
Then I will be happy on earth
And in my home above (home, arrow pointing above)
This morning we sang "I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus" for our morning devotional.
Here is a play-by-play:
We were sitting in a circle singing:
Song: "I'm trying to be like Jesus
I'm following in his ways
I'm trying to love as he did
in all that I do and say
At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice"
At this point in the song baby Summer started crawling around in our circle. We held each other's hands at this point. Sometimes we find that if hands are held, they are not poking each other :) The kids love to hold hands and it keeps the spirit of the song/prayer.....sometimes!Song: "But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers
Love one another as Jesus loves you"
With hands held it definitely decreases the "temptations" but does not eliminate them! Silver bends down and bites Summer on the back.
Song: "Try to show kindness in all that you do"
Mom can no longer sing as I'm trying to show kindness in ALL that I do. Summer is wailing and Silver is trying to look innocent. Dad carries the rest of the song:
"Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought
For these are the things Jesus taught"
Sigh.......We're throwing the Ball!
Silver does love Summer and is really cute with her, wanting her to be with her wherever she goes!
Silver packed Summer out to the sandbox.
Just minutes later Silver knocked Summer over and poured a bucket of sand all over her head.
