How have I never heard of this movie?Collateral Beauty!! This one is such a GEM. Officially my new favorite.
It takes such a heavy topic of loss after deep love in such a beautiful, heart rending and healing way. Will Smith and this amazing cast weave love and loss in the most beautiful story.
It opens with Will Smith giving an inspirational speech:
What is your why?
We are here to connect. Life is about people.
*Love
*Time
*Death
These Connect everything here on earth. We long for love, Wish we had more time, and Fear death.
The next scene cuts to 3 years later when his 6 year old daughter has passed from cancer and he is majorly struggling.
It hits so close to home because but for the grace of God there go I. That’s one of my favorite sayings because I can see myself in so many stories…if I had been born in a different situation or life had tipped in a different direction.
At the hospital a stranger tells the mom just before her daughter passes: just be sure to notice the collateral beauty. There is so much beauty in this journey. So much hurt and heartbreak…and weaved throughout all is the most amazing beauty.
