Talents For The Future

I love how kids learn through play: As they play they gain insight into themselves and their talents. Here are a few of our girls talents and possible professions???
Beautician: I’ll bet the hair dresser world can learn a lot from these girls: Did you know that paint, dirt and almost any sticky substance is desirable for hair quality? Hair putty is great for soft feet and mascara....whew...!...Oh, the many uses of mascara..... body art!!
Construction Workers: Our girls love to help Daddy with about any project he’s involved in. We have TONS of puncture burrs around our house. These do NOT deter Silver Dawn in the least from being Daddy’s little helper. Silver will sit down (getting more burrs in her backside) to pull out burrs from her shoes. Sometimes she falls and gets them in her hands, arms and legs…hardly a complaint…she’s in the big outdoors with her Dad!
She is with him wherever he goes and toddles and has the greatest time.

Cute Video of the girls helping Dad!

Teacher: River loves to play school. She loves to be the teacher to anyone she can!
Dancing, Dancing, Dancing!
We love to turn up the music and Dance!

Cute movie of the girls twirling!
Can't get enough twirling!!
River dancing with uncle Mike!
Circus/Performer/Stunts: Silver’s favorite place is to stand on the arm of our couches and bounce. She also likes the desk and the table:
Silver has figured out how to climb on the chairs, and then onto the table. What a world of possibilities has opened up now!

She can get up to just about any counter with her stepping stool or heater for help.

Jumping!!

Landscape maintenanceweeding: including most all flowers that ever show their pretty faces – lovingly picked for mommy. Watering: We love to water trees, the dirt to make mud, mommy, our sister and our-self. Silver waters herself about as much as she waters the plants. We love Digging holes and playing in the dirt!

Animal Caretaker: Recently we were able to take care of Paca’s horses and calf for a couple of days. What a grand adventure. Puppy’s are extra-extra loved!! Including being packed around anywhere you want to go!

Photographer: River LOVES to take pictures

Mommy: Mom, Look at Me! I’m almost a Mommy! She loves doing things that mommy’s do! She loves little babies and making them laugh.
Cook: Our eggs are special around here! Not everyone gets crunchy eggs with extra calcium!! As an added bonus, sometimes when mommy turns her back the eggs are hand squished and mixed with extra love!
River and Silver both enjoy packing around their “kids” River regularly has a stuffed animal friend or two around with her.

Music Director/Musician: Silver loves to lead singing time in church with the conductor. Both girls love to play the piano. Silver Dawn especially “asks” to be put up to the piano.
River loves to Sing: This was a fun activity this Christmas: The library had a kids book on tape. After the story was read, a couple of Christmas songs were on the tape as well. River about wore out that tape!

Video of the girls playing the piano.

Artist – Art is River's FAVORITE thing to do! She says she wants to be an artist when she grows up! Canvases include floors, walls, doors, chairs, self! We laid out sprinkler lines the other day and River enjoyed coloring with marker on the pipes.
Mediums: Food, crayons, dirt, mud, water, juice and to name a few. Playdough is a favorite in our house.

Marketing/Advertising/Sign Maker: Above is a sign that River made and posted above the toilet in her bathroom. The sign reads "Don't Pee on the Floor!"
Mommy and River painted a shelf with some hooks for her jacket, umbrella, backpack, etc.
After Daddy got home he helped her paint this on our laundry shelf. Mommy LOVES it!

Housekeeper: This is one of my main roles, so naturally, one of River’s as well. She can stay entertained for a long time with a squirt bottle of water and a squeegee and a dirty window! She loves to clean the floors and wash anything that is hers. She regularly asks for wipes to clean the TV, her toys, her table and playhouse.

Video of River and Silver Washing the floor - our little princess - in ballett slippers and a dress :) Floors get pretty slippery!

Floor Wash
Garbage collector and disposal: Many times as I pass a garbage and glace in or look in before throwing something away, there is something important on the top. Silver helps me get rid of our stuff.
Doctor: bandaids are a staple in our home. River carries her doctor kit with her around the house most days and loves to give shots and make sure her patients are continually in good health. One of the best remedies is some cream – she knows which ones are best for each situation: Neosporin, lotion, anti-itch, diaper cream, etc. and a bandaid!! Silver has even gotten to the point that she comes and “asks” for a bandaid while pulling up her pants to put one on each knee.

Early Spring Quote Board

While watching "The Incredibles" Disney movie with River. Mr. Incredible is getting married to Elastigirl. River turns to me and says "Elastigirl is now Mr. Incredibles wife. Why?" I explained that when people marry, he is now her husband and she is now her wife. "Ohhh" After a few minutes she turns to me: "Mom, I want to be Mr. Incredible's wife" He'll have to be pretty incredible to get this sweetie pie!

River has never liked her hair washed. During a recent washing: "MOMMMMM!!! You're ruining my Life!"
Nicnames for our girls: River: Bug. Siver: monk-monk. She is such a monkey. She holds on so tight if she's scared or doesn't want to be put down. She gives tight hugs and loves to cuddle. She loves bananas and climbing and getting into everything. Out little monkey!

River says to me as we are driving and the sun is going down: "Mom, look the sun is playing hide and go seek with the moon. It's the moon's turn to hide right now, but pretty soon it'll be the sun's time to hide." I asked her where she heard that from and she says "Oh, I just figured that out myself!"

Quotes from Kung Fu Panda: Turtle: "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" Turtle: "Your mind is like this water, my friend, when it is agitated it becomes difficult to see, but if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear." Panda's realization "There is no secret ingredient, to make something special you just have to believe it's special."

The Swiffer was one of the best investments we ever made...I get it out and River says "I WANT to MOP!"

After going up the canyon on a walk and having a cedar berry fight for an hour and a half and playing with one of River's best friends Danika, River asked me if she could go to Danika's house. I replied that we had a really fun time but now it was time to go home for dinner. She pouted and got into the stroller. "Mom, Lets go home and talk about this!"

I asked River to come out with me while I weeded the flower bed so she could get some sunshine and ride her trike. "But Mom, That will take just ages and ages!!" Mom: "Oh it won't take that long" River: "It will be like 15 Minutes!! Ages and Ages! "

We get out for a walk at least to the mailbox and back every day. On the nicest days we walk up the canyon behind our home. Cedar Berry fights are a regular and something River really looks forward to. "Mom, look! I picked hundreds and hundreds of Cedar Berries. Millions!"

Daddy occassionally brings River home a surprise. Today we made Daddy a surprise: hearts because we love him so much and a whole box of cedar berries. She walks around saying "Millions and Millions!!"

Silver has yes and no down. No is a very vigorous head shake. Yes is her whole face lighting up, she starts to bob back and forth and pants 3 times, sometimes pointing to the thing that she's saying yes to.

Silver has started to wave and blow kisses. She gives us all kisses before going to bed each night. What a sweet spirit!

River: "Mom, River's going to count to 5, when River counts to 5 you get Straight in here! 1....2....3....4....5!!!"

River talks most of the time in 3rd person: "A little girl named River heard a noise, and she was very very quiet. River tiptoed out of her room and she saw Mommy and Daddy watching a movie. But she didn't make a sound." Or "River wants to help with that!" "River likes doing that!" " A little girl named River is big enough to do that!" "You have to be big like River to do this!"

We had a role reversal one night: River was the Mommy and I was the Daughter. Me: Mommy, can I have a Candy? Mom (River): Daughter, you need to have a good dinner first!

River is a monster expert: Mom, Did you know that monsters like strawberries with the greens still on them? Mom, Did you know that monsters like to eat yucky things? Mom, Did you know that monsters step on cactus? Mom, Did you know that monsters take baths with mud? Mom, Did you know that monsters like to eat chocolate mud cream on strawberries? They also like to tear pages out of books and break lots of things from toys to computers.

Christmas Memories 2009

Pre-Christmas this year was covered in "The Magic of Christmas" post December 2009.
This post is the couple of days prior to Christmas, and Christmas Morning:

This is the cutest video of Silver enjoying her Christmas gift

Butterfly Wings

Flying with Butterfly Wings with Uncle Mike
Playing with Daddy
River can recognize all the letters and had a fun time finding her name and Silver's name.
Here is River's version of the Christmas story.
I love the expressions as she tells it.

Mesmerized by the candles and the nativity going round and round.
Highlight of our trip: The Temple and Lights on Temple square for Chrismtas. They had floating candles all over the reflecting pool. How beautiful!
We rode the Trax to get to Temple Square. River really enjoyed riding on a train.

A library book we really enjoyed this Christmas season was "12 days of Christmas" it was read on tape that you could follow along with the book and had some songs in it. River almost wore the tape out listening to it over and over.
Paper chains - What a fun Christmas activity.
