River's Baptism

River has been looking forward to being baptized for several years.  Her favorite number has always been 8 because that is when you get to be baptized.  The day was extra special to share with her best friend Ali.

We had a combined family night with Ali's family and ours about baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost.
River and Ali read to us the book "The Holy Ghost is like a Blanket"  It likens the Holy Ghost to different things that kids are familiar with:  A dove, wind, glasses, book, flashlight, hug, star, rose, seashell, train, umbrella and blanket.  Each thing teaches of different attributes of how the Holy Ghost helps us:  Peaceful, quiet, gentle, warns of danger, helps choose the right, see things clearly, remember, teaches truth, testifies of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Brightens your heart and mind, happiness, comfort and courage.

The activity of the Family Night:  We played the game Pig Out - you roll pigs and get points in how they land.  You can lock in your score and turn goes to next player, or try to go for more points, but may loose them if you roll a Pig Out.  Ali and River were on a team and 100 points wins the game - they made 99 points in one turn - but lost them all by rolling a Pig Out!  Giggles around the table :)

We are so very blessed to have a Daddy and Husband who holds the Priesthood.  On my mission one of our investigators getting baptized was so amazed that 19 year old Elders could baptize her and hold that authority from God.  What a blessing it is that God has blessed worthy Daddys to be able to perform this sacred ordinance for their children.

Aunt Shado gave a great talk on the Holy Ghost and how he helps and guides us, warns and testifies of truth.  River came home and made this to remind her of the Holy Ghost.

As an extra-special surprise the girls had matching dresses!
